About the Job
We are actively hiring a LABORATORY TECHNICIAN to support our MIAMI, FL site. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, day shift (40 hours per week).
Requirements
- PURPOSE: To provide support to clinical research coordinators by obtaining, processing, and shipping lab samples daily, as defined by sponsors' protocols, as well as FLOURISH RESEARCH's policies and procedures and OSHA requirements.
- To provide administrative support to the regulatory department, to CRCs and to management as needed to facilitate the smooth operation of business at a FLOURISH RESEARCH site.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Read, understand, and follow instruction manuals and sponsor protocols regarding laboratory specimens to be obtained following appropriate timelines per protocol.
- Obtain, process and ship laboratory specimens using good laboratory techniques and following OSHA and IATA regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and protocol issues as appropriate and as bound by Confidentiality Agreements with FLOURISH RESEARCH, between FLOURISH RESEARCH and sponsors, and between FLOURISH RESEARCH and other entities in compliance with all HIPAA regulations.
- Promptly report any adverse events or laboratory incidents to management that occur with patients when obtaining or processing lab specimens.
- Ensure availability of appropriate amounts of laboratory supplies.
- Use professionalism in all communications with patients, sponsors, physicians, clinic staff, FLOURISH RESEARCH employees, etc., whether communications occur in person, via telephone, or via electronic modes.
- Attend required training courses/conferences to stay abreast of current and changing federal regulations and FLOURISH RESEARCH policies.
- Pursue educational opportunities to increase knowledge of the research process, good laboratory practices, OSHA, and IATA regulations.
- Perform all duties in a safe and prudent manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Represent FLOURISH RESEARCH in a professional and courteous manner (verbal, written and in appearance) when interacting with all staff, clients, and vendors.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior clinical/office work environment.
- Exposure to human bodily fluids. Laboratory processing procedures. Subject/Patient care. Daily computer use.
- Occasional night and weekend work schedules.
- Ability to properly lift thirty-five pounds and occasionally more than thirty-five pounds.
- Ability to drive, and daily availability of an automobile.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience as a research laboratory technician.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-3+ years' experience within the field of clinical or biological research.
- Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrates core values & all skills set required. Able to obtain blood specimens via venipuncture using sterile technique. Able to effectively instruct patients regarding proper techniques for obtaining urine and other biological specimens. Able to read, understand and assimilate required protocol specific laboratory procedures to be performed to include correct schedule of laboratory samples to be obtained, methods of obtaining specimens, methods of processing specimens and methods of shipping specimens using IATA and OSHA defined processes. Administrative organizational skills to ensure proper routing of laboratory test results, phone calls, maintenance of all laboratory manuals, equipment, and supplies. Assists with key initiatives/process improvements in the department. Assists with training company new hires. Completes at least 80% of goals annually.
