Laboratory Technician Assistant 2 PSC

About the role

Inova OB Office is looking for a dedicated Laboratory Technician Assistant 2 PSC (LTA 2 PSC) to join the team. This is a part-time Day Shift position from Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 1:00 pm, located in Chantilly, VA 20151.

Responsibilities

• Accurately manage specimen preparation steps, storage, and packaging for transport according to lab protocols to preserve specimen integrity and quality.
• Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with Inova coworkers, physicians, physician office administration and staff, care facility staff and leadership, and government facility staff to optimize job performance and foster working relationships.
• Perform patient registration, billing, and test order procedures accurately and efficiently to ensure correct testing, reporting, billing, and regulatory compliance.
• Perform proper and timely specimen collection, accurately label all specimens according to Inova policy, and provide excellent patient and customer service using AIDET principles.
• Confirm patient identity, collect specimens in proper tubes using venipuncture or capillary techniques, and accurately label specimens to ensure accurate patient results.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of Phlebotomy training required; completion certificate from a Phlebotomy program or another Allied Health training program, such as Medical Assistant, Medical Lab Technician, or Medical Technologist.
• 1 year of experience in a Patient Service Center environment or at least 6 months in an Inova Patient Service Center. This requirement can also be met by successfully completing the Inova Phlebotomy School Certification.
• Basic Life Support certification within 3 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of all specialty tests ordered by physicians and NPs.
• Phlebotomy experience.
