Laboratory Technical Assistant, Renton (40 hrs)
About the Role
The Technical Assistant performs the pre-analytic phases of laboratory testing procedures and may also perform the analytic and post-analytic phases of waived testing procedures. This includes loading specimens and quality control material for testing on instruments, loading reagents, routine instrument maintenance, documentation, and workplace cleanliness.
Responsibilities
- Loads specimen and quality control material for testing on instruments, records receipt of reagent and supply shipments, and performs routine instrument maintenance.
- Serves as a technical resource to resolve problems and answer pre-analytical procedural questions for laboratory customers.
- Performs computer data entry and retrieval, including accessioning specimens, entering results, and retrieving information.
- Collects and processes specimens for lab testing, with knowledge of special handling requirements for specific populations (e.g., infants, pediatric, and geriatric patients).
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities, performs maintenance, waived testing, and EKG testing.
- Trains phlebotomy students and employees.
- Monitors supplies and ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements related to safety and laboratory testing.
- Provides face-to-face and telephone customer service.
- Maintains workplace cleanliness and performs specimen banking, storage, and disposal.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Minimum one (1) year of recent clinical laboratory experience.
- Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist Certificate (Washington).
- Basic computer skills, good verbal and written communication skills, and customer service and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five (5) years of clinical laboratory experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field.
- Background studies in science-related classes.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday, 05:00 AM – 01:30 PM.
Pay
$25.93 - $38.52 per hour. The posted pay range is based on possible base salaries and does not reflect the full total rewards package. Actual base pay will be determined at offer based on labor market data, internal alignment, and a candidate's relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.

Onsite at Renton Administration - Adams, Central Campus South - Pathology/Lab-Cytology in Renton, Washington.
