Responsibilities
- Loads specimen and quality control material for testing on instruments, records the receipt of reagent and supply shipments, loads reagents and appropriate documentation, and performs routine instrument maintenance, specimen banking/storage and disposal.
- Helps resolve problems and answer pre-analytical procedural questions. Serves as a resource to laboratory customers.
- Accessions specimens, enters results, retrieves information, enters results.
- Collections specimens for lab testing. Has knowledge of special specimen collection and handling requirements for specific populations, e.g. infants, pediatric and geriatric patients. Processes specimens for lab testing according to laboratory procedures.
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities. Performs maintenance. Performs waived testing and EKG testing. Trains phlebotomy students and employees.
Requirements
- Minimum one (1) year of recent clinical laboratory experience.
- High School Diploma OR General Education Development (GED) required.
- Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certificate (Washington)
- Basic computer skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer service and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
- Five (5) years of clinical laboratory experience.
- Bachelor's degree in a science related field.
- Background studies in science-related classes.
