What You'll Do
- Absolutely ensures patient identification before specimen collection.
- Performs routine and STAT phlebotomy, adhering to hospital and laboratory policies.
- Labels specimens in the presence of the patient and communicates clearly with patients.
- Ensures appropriate and high-quality specimens are collected for all tests ordered.
- Validates that all specimens are correctly labeled and received.
- Completes receiving steps following established Laboratory guidelines.
- Enters practitioner orders accurately into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Delivers STAT, urgent, or other specimens promptly and prepares them for reference labs.
- Processes specimens accurately and maintains their integrity.
- Fulfills responsibilities defined on the laboratory’s task lists.
- Assists with training of new staff as needed.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED, required.
- CPT-A Phlebotomy Certification from a formal program with a minimum of 60 hours of didactic training and 6 hours of clinical experience, or 100 observed phlebotomy draws, preferred.
Experience
- 1 year of experience in similar capacity, preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements
- Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
- Occasional crouching, grasping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping.
- Frequent typing/clerical/dexterity, hearing, reaching, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception).
- Constant walking, fit testing.
- Hazards - Frequent bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure.
Travel
- The job may require travel from time-to-time, but not on a regular basis.

Pay Range
Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
Pay Range Minimum: USD $18.02/Hr.
Pay Range Maximum: USD $27.03/Hr.
