Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH) — Baylor University Medical Center, Downtown Dallas, TX. Department: Blood Bank. Shift: Evening, Sunday–Thursday, 2:30 PM–11:00 PM. Sign-on bonus: $10,000 for new hires.

About the role

The Supervisor of Lab oversees routine lab activities to ensure adequate staffing and timely, quality-standard tests. Assists with hiring, training, evaluations, and payroll.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the work of assigned subordinates in testing phases.
• Performs all delegated functions as defined by the facility CLIA Director.
• Prepares schedules, coordinates job assignments, and monitors personnel.
• Assists in selecting, orienting, training, assigning, evaluating, disciplining, and discharging employees.
• Assists in the development of policies and procedures related to the laboratory, staffing, and scheduling.
• Communicates and escalates staffing issues or other concerns to management in a timely manner.
• Monitors the inventory system to ensure that necessary supplies are available as needed and in the proper quantity.
• Assists with implementing quality assurance programs and maintains standards and records that document compliance with regulatory agencies.
• Assists with reviewing quality control, proficiency testing, instrument maintenance, and quality assurance records, and any corrective actions.
• Assists with the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification.

Experience: 4 years of experience.

Certification/License/Registration: Must hold one of the following: ASCP-Blood Banking Technologist (ASCP-BB), ASCP-Chemistry Technologist (ASCP-C), ASCP-Cytogenetics Technologist (ASCP-CG), ASCP-Cytologist (ASCP-CT), ASCP-Hematology Technologist (ASCP-H), ASCP-Histotechnician (ASCP-HT), ASCP-Histotechnologist (ASCP-HTL), ASCP-Microbiology Technologist (ASCP-M), Molecular Biology Technologist (ASCP-MB), ASCP-Blood Banking Specialist (ASCP-SBB), ASCP-Chemistry Specialist (ASCP-SC), ASCP-Hematology Specialist (ASCP-SH), ASCP-Microbiology Specialist (ASCP-SM), Cert Histocompatibility Spec (CHS-ABHI), Cert Histocompatibility Techno (CHT-ABHI), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist (MT), Specialist in
