Laboratory Specialist
The Laboratory Specialist will conduct, analyze, and document chemical/physical tests on materials. The individual in this role will prepare solutions, calibrate equipment, maintain safety standards, and report data to scientists.
Job Duties
- Conduct routine and non-routine chemical or physical laboratory tests on solids, liquids, and gases.
- Operate, calibrate, and clean laboratory instrumentation (e.g., pH meters),
- Prepare samples, compounds, and reagents according to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Absorb in the fabrication of battery electrodes and other electrochemical materials.
- Maintain accurate records of experiments, materials, and inventory.
- Support lab-scale characterization of materials, including mechanical and chemical properties.
- Ensure lab cleanliness, organization, and compliance with safety protocols.
- Absorb in researchers and engineers with experimental setups and data collection.
- Monitor and maintain lab equipment and report any malfunctions.
- Maintain a safe laboratory environment by following GLP (Good Laboratory Practices), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and handling hazardous materials safely.
- Monitor production samples to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Analyze and interpret test results, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established protocols.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years of postsecondary education in chemistry or a related field
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and conducting experiments
- 3+ years of laboratory experience
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, ability to follow complex instructions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electrode fabrication or electrochemical testing
- Familiar with battery technologies
- Previous manufacturing experience

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
- Work involves sitting, walking, standing, bending, throughout the day
- Must be able to wear proper arc flash rated PPE along with standard PPE requirements
- Must be able to climb ladders to perform work when needed
- Lifting up to 25 pounds
- Requires close visual acuity and ability to distinguish colors
