About the role

The Blood Bank Laboratory Section Chief oversees daily operations for the Blood Bank/Transfusion Service and Apheresis Department. The team dispenses over 37,000 blood products annually and performs more than 1,200 therapeutic procedures and cellular therapy collections.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a talented team of technologists, technicians, lab associates, and nurses
  • Introduce new testing methodologies and instrumentation
  • Manage interdepartmental quality projects
  • Maintain regulatory compliance
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution
  • In lieu of education requirements, equivalent education and training may meet the required qualifications as a CLIA General Supervisor of High Complexity Testing
  • Medical Laboratory Technician or Laboratory Scientist certification (MLT, MLS or BB) through ASCP or equivalent certification agency required
  • Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB ASCP) or Master’s Degree in Transfusion Medicine required
  • 4 years of experience in related discipline with one year as Team Lead
  • Master’s degree may be substituted for one year of clinical laboratory experience in related discipline

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in related discipline
  • One year as Team Lead preferred
  • Laboratory Certification preferred
  • Project management skills preferred

Pay

Eligibility for shift differential pay based on the terms outlined in company policy or union contract.

Schedule

Full time, 8:00am - 4:30pm.
