Responsibilities

  • Apply GMP/GLP in all areas of responsibility, as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate and promote the company vision through regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Perform basic micro lab techniques/analyses and prepare media/cultures, based on job function.
  • Contribute to a small team of analysts using bacterial test systems (e.g., Total Coliform testing, E. coli testing, Total Plate Counts, and MPNs).
  • Assist in writing, reviewing, and editing reports, protocols, and SOPs.
  • Efficiently carry out procedures necessary to complete each analysis with minimal supervision.
  • Meticulously maintain precise records of all analyses in accordance with good laboratory practice.
  • Culture and enumerate infectious bacterial pathogens using routine microbiological techniques.
  • Enter data into LIMS computer system.
  • Maintain and calibrate equipment (incubators, water baths, refrigerators, etc.).
  • Prepare and wash glassware.
  • Receive and unload incoming samples or consignments in accordance with DOT regulations; verify receipt against Chain of Custody (COC), match it to the corresponding quote, and note discrepancies daily.
  • Verify that COCs are accurate, complete, and correct; seek resolution for those that are not.
  • Log samples into Lab Management System daily to assign a lot number for tracking purposes and distribute paperwork to Project Managers.
  • Label samples so they may be identified by the lot number and assign/deliver samples to appropriate labs for analysis daily.
  • Prepare bottle kits daily to be shipped to clients for sample collection and return for analysis in accordance with established procedures, including EPA and DOT requirements.
  • Forward samples to other laboratories in accordance with DOT regulations as needed to run tests not performed at this location.
  • Dispose of spent samples, waste, and other potentially hazardous materials in accordance with established procedures.
  • Monitor freezer and cooler temperatures daily to confirm readings are within SOP guidelines.
  • Clean and organize the departments/labs daily to promote a clean, safe work environment and smoother flow of daily operations.
  • Maintain and promote safety; conduct all operations in a safe and environmentally compliant manner.
  • Stock and supply inventory daily; assist with inventory of supplies to maintain proper quantity of materials.
  • Perform splits and composites as needed upon request.
  • Perform courier duties as necessitated to support lab and client needs; comply with all driver procedures, certification, and company driver policies.
  • Be willing to be on-call during non-business hours to perform non-routine sampling, delivery, setup, and read-back of analyses.
  • Assist in maintenance of walk-in coolers to facilitate locating samples.
  • Ship empty coolers back to clients and other Eurofins Laboratories; log all outgoing coolers to maintain a detailed inventory.
  • Maintain all company vehicles for sample pickups and deliveries as needed.
  • Conduct all client interaction in an appropriate and professional manner.
  • Perform bottle order prep duties.

Requirements

  • Department of Transportation (DOT) Certificate may be required for shipping hazardous chemicals within 90 days of date of hire.
  • Additional client or location licenses or certifications may be required to support client and operational needs.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
  • Must have a valid US driver’s license without recent incident.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

  • Biological degree with a minimum of 4 credit hours of Microbiology (ideal candidate).
  • Experience with computers, word processing software, and database software.
  • Experience with Microbiological Laboratory and testing procedures.
  • Proficiency in general mathematics, basic composition, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Strong work ethic, ability to organize work, and pay attention to detail.
  • Experience with computerized shipping systems and personal protective equipment.
  • Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.

Schedule

Position is full-time, Monday - Friday. Hours will vary.

Pay

Pay rate: $18.00–$20.00 per hour.
