Job Description

Assists Technologists in performing a variety of tasks which require a high level of responsibility and sound judgment. Demonstrates working knowledge of all facets of role, relevant regulations, and organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Performs all duties in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies and procedures.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Affords assistance to medical technologists in keeping the laboratory organized.
  • Executes assigned administrative and clerical duties associated with the daily operations of the lab.
  • Maintains staff schedules, records and logs, including but not limited to, Quality Control and temperature logs for lab equipment.
  • Files and labels slides. Keeps specimens and files in order and up to date.
  • May perform routine laboratory procedures related to preparing samples for analysis.
  • Administers quality assurance (QA) functions including coordination, monitoring, and documentation of quality assurance processes for manager review.
  • Carries out specimen discrepancy and rejection processes.
  • Processes all send-outs (packaging, shipping, documentation) for outside testing.
  • Maintains certain instrumentation with appropriate documentation.
  • Distributes specimen collection materials to IR facilities, provides customer support for filling orders, shipping, and tracking of all supplies distributed. (Flow and Histology)
  • Assists with inventory, purchasing and receiving for assigned areas.
  • Executes electronic file maintenance.
  • Assists with document control processes relating to updates to SOP, forms, TOC, as well as safety information manuals (SDS).
  • Processes electrophoresis results for billing and archiving; uploads abnormal results into Onco EMR. (Flow Only)
  • Data entry and transcription of gross descriptions and CBC results into ApvX (Histology Only)
  • Basic reagent preparation.
  • Creates and/or provides lab paperwork and QA materials for new/relocated Company Offices.
  • Affords assistance with training of Company clinic staff for auditing and inspection preparation. (central lab)
  • Reviews invoices and resolves discrepancies for approval/submission to Accounts Payable.
  • Interacts with all co-workers, physicians, patients and others in a positive manner to illustrate the Company as helpful and encouraging to both internal and external customers.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Job Qualifications And Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience: 1-2 years’ experience in medical and/or laboratory setting with an understanding of medical terminology required. 1-2 years’ experience with insurance authorization and benefit investigation required.

Self-motivated and self-starter with ability work independently with limited supervision. Ability to work remotely effectively as required. Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands from a variety of stakeholders and sites.
    • Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook required.

Standard Core Workdays/Hours

Tuesday-Saturday 8:00 AM-4:30 PM. Occasional overtime may be required, and weekend shifts based on location hours and operational needs.
