Laboratory Planner- Architecture

About the role

Ballinger is seeking a Lab Planner to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building design and documentation, particularly in science and technology-related facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, analyzing, detailing, and documenting laboratories and other science and technology related facilities
  • Preparing technical drawings and specifications to ensure construction conforms to specifications, codes, standards, and client requirements
  • Collaborating with both architecture and engineering team members to deliver an integrated set of documents across the discipline
  • Accountability for budget adherence
  • Acting as a firm-wide resource
  • Contributing to Firm Standards (RUG/Technical/ Templates/Specs)
  • Presenting and providing day-to-day support to clients and external project teams
  • Contributing to ongoing studies for process improvement
  • Building on industry network, potentially through trade organizations, local events, speaking or conferences where applicable
  • Participating in internal committees where applicable

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in Architecture, Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in building design and documentation in science and technology or related building types
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape or other modeling software applications
  • Superb production, analytical, and communication skills

Qualifications

  • Ability to take and provide direction within a larger team
  • Works on large-scale or multiple projects
  • Self-starter, able to independently generate design solutions and direction to other team members
  • Interfaces and coordinates with all disciplines during the design/coordination phases
  • Participates in construction administration-related activities across the team and all disciplines
  • Highly responsive and collaborative with contractors and clients
  • Demonstrated expertise with a key role in the firm
  • Superior technical skills, dedication, and ownership of work

Skills

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Graphics and visualization skills to effectively communicate design ideas
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
