About the role
The Phlebotomist draws and collects blood from patients, prepares samples for testing, verifies patient records, enters data into the system, and ensures specimens are ready for laboratory analysis. You will also instruct patients on Coumadin, perform limited waived testing, and maintain sample integrity through proper identification and labeling.
Responsibilities
- Perform painless venipuncture and capillary puncture for the Coumadin clinic.
- Identify patients following protocol.
- Prepare samples with correct labels and bar codes; inspect vials.
- Reconcile outstanding sample reports at day’s end.
- Observe safety procedures and proper sample preparation.
- Support and guide day-to-day activities.
- Clean up old orders and combine orders in Copia; identify duplicate vs. necessary tests.
- Demonstrate excellent guest service to internal team members and patients.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Phlebotomy certification, Medical Assistant (M.A.) certification, or certificate from a phlebotomy program.
- 1+ years of experience in a lab preferred.
- Understand labeling/ID protocol and common lab tests, sample types, and vacutainers.
- Knowledge of Biohazard, OSHA safety regulations for medical offices, and Universal precautions.
- Familiarity with test requirements and how to search Quest/LabCorp for esoteric tests.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Pay
Compensation range: $19.00 to $28.50 per hour. The anticipated base salary range reflects the Company’s good-faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, geographic location, internal equity, and business needs.
