Laboratory Media Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Follow all policies, procedures, and SOPs to prepare media and reagents for microbiology testing, ensuring accuracy in formulation, sterility, QC verification, and documentation.
• Maintain accurate, legible, and traceable records (GDP): Daily balance verification, vial filler/dispenser standardization, media batch production and QC testing, autoclave cycles and sterility verification, temperature monitoring, water quality (conductivity, residual chlorine), pH meter validation, detergent residue testing, opening/closing logs, reagent production logs and labels, media discard documentation.
• Clean and maintain glassware, plasticware, and equipment used in media production.
• Operate equipment safely and according to instructions, reporting any malfunctions, accidents, or safety concerns to lab management.
• Maintain inventory of media and supplies, and request replenishment in a timely manner.
• Monitor and maintain inventory of media and supplies, and request replenishment in a timely manner.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.
• High school diploma and/or AS/BS degree in Microbiology, Biology, Food Science or a related science field (plus experience in a laboratory or science environment).
• Ability to accurately and legibly record data.
• Possess strong attention to detail.
• Ability to memorize different testing types, Media, Dilutions, SOPs, etc.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stand for long periods; to work independently and within a team.
