In this leadership opportunity as Cytogenetics Manager, you will oversee a highly specialized team responsible for delivering comprehensive cytogenetic and molecular cytogenetic testing services in support of patient care, research, and precision medicine initiatives.

Working within one of the nation's leading academic medical centers, you will lead operations across conventional chromosome analysis, FISH testing, and emerging genomic technologies while fostering a culture of quality, innovation, and continuous improvement. The Cytogenetics Laboratory serves as a critical resource for oncologic, prenatal, and constitutional genetic testing, supporting complex diagnostic evaluations and collaborating closely with geneticists, pathologists, oncologists, and other multidisciplinary clinical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team responsible for comprehensive cytogenetic and molecular cytogenetic testing services.
  • Lead operations across conventional chromosome analysis, FISH testing, and emerging genomic technologies.
  • Foster a culture of quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Support complex diagnostic evaluations in collaboration with geneticists, pathologists, oncologists, and other clinical teams.
  • Manage laboratory operations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in emergency management during weekends and holidays as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of clinical laboratory experience, or 2 years with a Master’s degree, or 1 year with an MD, DO, or doctoral degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology or related field.
  • New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License from the New York State Education Department.
  • Meets all requirements of the New York State Department of Health for a Laboratory Supervisor.
  • New York State Cytotechnologist License.
  • Computer literacy and experience with laboratory computer systems, spreadsheets, word processors, and statistical/financial programming.
  • Strong interpersonal, writing, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASCP Certification.

Pay

Salary Range: $160,000–$193,000/Annual.

All roles require on-site presence, and employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP. NYP will not reimburse for travel expenses.
