Laboratory Manager, Biochemistry
About the role
The Research Support Specialist position is available in the laboratory of Dr. William K.M. Lai, in the Department of Biochemistry at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. This role combines hands-on research with lab management, focusing on genomics studies of chromatin organization and protein-DNA interactions.
Responsibilities
- Owns the operational health of the lab
- Trains and mentors undergraduate and graduate researchers at the bench
- Develops computational methods for interpreting high-resolution genomic assays (ChIP-exo, MNase-seq, ATAC-seq)
- Works with various model systems including Saccharomyces cerevisiae and human cell lines
- Engages in protein binding studies in vitro
Requirements
- PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or related field
- Experience with high-throughput genomic assays and bioinformatics tools
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to manage a team of researchers
- Excellent communication and mentoring abilities
Qualifications
- Experience in genomics research
- Knowledge of yeast genetics and molecular biology techniques
- Proficiency in bioinformatics software and tools
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
