Laboratory Director
About the role

The Laboratory Director is responsible for maintaining positive operating margin at the laboratory level and for meeting and exceeding the annual budget. Supervises all laboratory personnel and provides leadership and direction as needed. Responsible for ensuring compliance and integration of facility operation with corporate and regulatory policies and procedures. The lab director will serve as a liaison with corporate business partners and will champion Company policies, vision, and mission.
Responsibilities
- Manages the laboratory to provide positive operating margin and meet annual budgetary goals.
- Responsible for the culture of the lab and the employee engagement of personnel under their hierarchy.
- Acts confidentially in employee matters and partners with Human Resources to ensure consistent application of all policies and programs.
- Builds and maintains positive customer relationships and drives sales growth through direct interaction with customers and Eurofins sales personnel.
- Establishes and maintains an active and positive safety culture, ensuring Employee Health and Safety procedures are implemented and followed.
- Collaborates with the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure SOPs for the facility are implemented and reviewed regularly for compliant operations.
- Prioritizes the activities of the operations groups to ensure key goals are achieved and customer service needs are addressed.
- Provides periodic reports to the Business Unit Manager to ensure goals and objectives are being achieved and to identify opportunities for development.
- Works with Project Managers and Customer Service Managers to ensure accurate forecasting of receipts, quality analytical data delivery, and on-time delivery dates.
- Leads Business Team activities to develop and implement sales strategies to achieve budgetary goals.
- Communicates facility-specific goals and objectives to employees and implements company initiatives designed to foster teamwork and communication.
- Fulfills supervisory responsibilities with direct reports to achieve strong staff performance, mentors key employees, and evaluates staffing levels to support operational needs and budgetary requirements.
- Collaborates with the Business Controller and HR Business Partner to review manpower regularly.
- Works with the IT Group to ensure appropriate Information Technology resources are available and effectively used to support operational requirements.
- Actively participates in sharing and adopting best practices within Eurofins and provides technical assistance to other laboratories as needed.
- Approves all laboratory purchases, including capital spending, to support the business plan and maintain profitability.
- Collaborates with the Business Controller to review financial information and implement actions to proactively manage laboratory cost controls and financial performance.
- Upholds and enforces Company policies, including Quality, Safety, Standard Operating Procedures, Ethics, and Harassment.
- Champions Health & Safety and assumes ownership for the safety of employees within their responsibility.
- Travel for business purposes is required.
Requirements
- BS in a science-related field, preferred.
- 5 years of management experience.
- 5 years of analytical experience or related technical knowledge.
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
- Professional working proficiency in English, including the ability to read, write, and speak in English.

- Familiarity with EPA, DOT, OSHA, and DOL regulations.

Pay
Starting range: $100,000 - $125,000 based on experience.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM.
