Laboratory Courier - On call

General Summary

Drives a vehicle to pick up, deliver and properly store specimens and other materials. Establishes rapport with clients through timely service and a willingness to answer basic and/or account related questions while on site for pick up or delivery. Follows the proper procedures in conjunction with the established quality control requirements.

Principal Job Functions

• Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
• Transports specimens and other materials to various client offices and laboratory sites via automobile.
• Maintains a log of items received and delivered through the tracking system.
• Services vehicle driven, such as checking fluid levels and replenishing fuel.
• Communicates effectively with internal and external customers. Refers vehicle service issues to management.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient and specimen information.
• Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
• Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
• Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Education And Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent required.

Other Credentials / Certifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• Verification and maintenance of responsible driving record per facility standards required.
