Laboratory Courier

About the role

As a Laboratory Courier, you will perform daily, preventive maintenance of assigned vehicles and perform scheduled deliveries and pickups at all perimeter locations according to your established route and schedule. This position assists the lab by moving specimens to provide patients with their test results.

Responsibilities

• Perform pickup and delivery of laboratory specimens to designated areas.
• Use appropriate handling, storage and transportation methods.
• Perform daily, preventive maintenance of an assigned vehicle.
• Verify that delivery has been completed properly.
• Ensure that all items are picked up and delivered, barcodes are scanned, and signatures are obtained.
• Submit daily route sheets, accident reports, maintenance records and mileage reports.
• Check all fluid levels daily and perform basic safety checks of mechanical operations.
• Report any malfunctions and problems to the section leader for correction.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid state driver’s license (VDL) and a good driving record
• Obtain and maintain eligibility as determined by Cleveland Clinic’s insurance carrier’s requirements to operate foundation vehicles
• Work independently and organize and prioritize deliveries and pickups
• Read maps and follow directions

Qualifications

• One year of experience as a courier
• Experienced driver
• Comfortable using a smart phone
• Knowledge of the area around Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus

Skills

• Full body motion including ability to lift and transport medium weight materials up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to spend long hours driving and working in all weather conditions
• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education. Pay

Pay Range Minimum hourly: $15.25 Maximum hourly: $22.25

Schedule

Day/evening shifts: 11:00am—8:00pm, every other weekend.
