Laboratory Assistant - Pathology - Full Time 8 Hour Day Shift (Non Union)
About the role
The Laboratory Assistant (Non Phlebotomist) assists the licensed staff in the preanalytical processes of collection, accessioning, and preparation of samples for testing and post-analytically in the reporting of test results to customers. They may assist higher-level licensed personnel in performing standard laboratory tests on patient specimens and provide clerical and laboratory assistant support to the laboratory as a whole.
Responsibilities
- Assist in specimen processing and preparation for testing
- Perform computer data entry and manage specimen accessioning
- Operate centrifugation equipment for specimens
- Set up microbiology specimens for testing
- Support licensed personnel in performing standard laboratory tests
- Provide clerical and administrative support to the laboratory
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent (required)
- Associate’s Degree or 2 years of college-level courses (preferred)
- 1 year of prior experience in a hospital laboratory setting, including specimen processing, data entry, centrifugation, and microbiology setups (required)
- 1 year of experience in a Pathology Laboratory (preferred)
- 1 year of secretarial or administrative assistant experience (preferred)
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Excellent customer service behavior
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Typing speed of 60 WPM and familiarity with computers and word processing software

Pay
The hourly rate range for this position is $22.00 - $35.54.
