Laboratory Assistant (On Call)

About the role

Responsible for performing venipuncture, skin puncture, and pre-analytical laboratory procedures on patients of all ages, ensuring proper sample collection, labeling, and transportation. Adheres to policies, procedures, and relevant laws while maintaining professionalism and patient relations.

Responsibilities

• Selects appropriate phlebotomy techniques based on patient age and physical condition.
• Performs laboratory tasks such as bar coding, centrifuging, culturing, and staining specimens.
• Monitors inventory levels of supplies and reagents.
• Handles patient check-in, collects revenue, and provides preparation instructions.
• Maintains confidentiality, demonstrates ethical behavior, and supports compliance with organizational standards.
• Performs on-call duties and works onsite as required.

Requirements

• Minimum one year of phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting.
• High school diploma or GED.
• California Phlebotomy Technician I or II certification.
