Responsibilities
- Performs venipuncture and capillary punctures for blood tests while adhering to all safety requirements.
- Receives and distributes specimens in the laboratory.
- Processes specimens for testing, storage, and send-out to reference laboratories.
- Demonstrates knowledge of specimen requirements and limitations of testing procedures.
- Performs waived testing as required.
- Demonstrates knowledge about the functionality of the lab’s automation line.
- Acts as a resource for laboratory information.
- Ensures timeliness of specimen collections and minimizes contamination.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent.
- Some knowledge of medical terminology.
- One of the following:
- 3 months of phlebotomy experience,
- a phlebotomy certificate with 32 hours of clinical rotation,
- 6 months of experience in a medical field providing patient care, including drawing blood or blood processing,
- current MLT student in clinical rotations, or
- one or more college-level courses in a biological science.
Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be maintained throughout employment.
Pay
$15.45–$25.24 per hour, depending on previous work experience. Position qualifies for a $1.75 per hour night shift differential.

Schedule
Thursday–Saturday, 1800–0630 (night shift).
