Laboratory Assistant - MCL

As a laboratory assistant you will be a member of a diverse, agile team responsible for biological specimen receipt, identification verification, processing and storage. In addition, you will perform a variety of clerical, processing, and other laboratory duties that include maintaining supply inventory, filing, stocking, receiving shipments, and cleaning. This position is located at the Superior Drive Support Center where immediate parking is available. Responsibilities
- Biological specimen receipt, identification verification, processing and storage
- Maintain supply inventory, filing, stocking, receiving shipments, and cleaning
- Perform a variety of clerical, processing, and other laboratory duties
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Knowledge of laboratory functions and medical terminology preferred
- Science background preferred
- 1-2 years medical experience preferred
- Ability to stay organized, prioritize, and shift gears in a busy environment
- Conscientious of details and strict safety requirements for handling chemicals, reagents, and infectious agents
- Ability to work independently and as a contributing team member
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
- Experienced with computers, keyboarding, and telephone operations
- Valid Minnesota driver's license with an excellent driving record required
Additional requirements
- All applicants must attach a cover letter and resume to their application to be considered for this position
- Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology/Mayo Collaborative Services (DLMP/MCS) employees that have been in their current lab/position for less than 2 years must attach an early release approval from their supervisor
- Internal applicants must attach their 3 most recent performance appraisals
- Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to apply for other positions within Mayo Clinic
- This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship; Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program
- International/foreign trained applicants: MUST provide a DETAILED equivalency evaluation showing US equivalent degree, completed from an organization listed as a member of NACES (www.naces.org) or AICE (www.aice-eval.org). Applicant is responsible for the cost associated with obtaining the equivalency evaluation
Pay
$20.00 - $24.75 / hour
Schedule
Full Time, 80 hours per pay period. Schedule: M-F 9am-5:30pm, shifts vary.
