Laboratory Assistant I - Specimen Processing

About the role

The Lab Assistant I provides general laboratory services including specimen collection, order entry, blood component preparation, pre-analytic processing of specimens, and related clerical tasks. The incumbent may also be responsible for patient and specimen registration and delivery of specimens.

Schedule

• Part time, nights (10:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
• 1–2 days per week
• Minimum of 16 hours per month
• Weekends and holidays as needed

West Hospital (Avon, IN)

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program with experience in a laboratory or coursework in biological, chemical, or related science preferred
• Valid Indiana operator’s license and a good driving history for the last three years may be required
• Understanding of traffic laws in the State of Indiana may be required
• Working knowledge of computers
• Strong telephone skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time
