Laboratory Assistant I

About the role

The Lab Assistant I provides general laboratory services including specimen collection, order entry, blood component preparation, pre-analytic processing of specimens, and related clerical tasks. Responsibilities may include patient and specimen registration as well as delivery of specimens.

Schedule

• Full time, evenings (Monday–Friday, 1400–2230)
• Weekend and holiday rotation

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program with experience in a laboratory or coursework in biological, chemical, or related science preferred
• Valid Indiana operator’s license and a good driving history for the last three years may be required
• Understanding of Indiana traffic laws may be required
• Working knowledge of computers
• Strong telephone skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time
