Laboratory Assistant - Certified

About the role

The Laboratory Assistant-Certified assists the Laboratory Scientist in operating the Clinical Laboratory. Responsibilities include performing phlebotomy procedures, non-technical aspects of patient testing such as specimen processing, and laboratory informatics activities. The role also involves maintaining a well-stocked, clean, and orderly laboratory environment to support smooth operations and safe, quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of venipuncture, including heel-stick and finger-stick.
• Utilize proper aseptic technique when performing patient care procedures.
• Choose the appropriate specimen based on knowledge, request, or research for particular test requests.
• Handle all aspects of specimen collection, labeling, and processing.
• Complete laboratory paperwork accurately, including patient requisitions, reference laboratory requisitions, documentation of special circumstances, review of billing demographics, daily check-off lists, temperature monitoring, preparing monthly records, and annual reports.

Requirements

• CPT-1 or CPT-2 certification required.
• American Heart Association BLS certification required.
• High school diploma required.
• One year of experience as a Phlebotomist preferred.

Pay

Starting wage: $26.28 to $31.85 per hour, based on qualifications.
