About the Role
This position is responsible for the accurate entry of donor and draw information, selection of the appropriate component plan, and precise execution of multiple production steps to produce quality components. The role reports to the Laboratory Supervisors or others as designated.
Responsibilities
- Enter and update donor registration and draw information into the computer.
- Process blood components from whole blood and apheresis donations with proper technique and documentation according to procedures.
- Label all blood components including proper checking and documentation.
- Perform and document quality control procedures on a regular schedule.
- Recognize equipment malfunctions and evaluate need for adjustment or repairs; notify Supervisor in writing of any malfunctions or unacceptable component results.
- Organize, process, modify, and sterile dock components as necessary to deliver quality pooled or split products.
- Generate daily reports as required.
- Read and follow official communications via policy memos and Laboratory Log Book.
- Read and maintain familiarity with pertinent sections of the Laboratory Procedures Manual and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Maintain a clean and orderly working environment.
- Prepare biohazardous waste for shipment (some lifting included).
- Carry out all procedures in a reasonable time frame as determined by supervisory personnel.
- Participate in assigned programs, projects, and evaluation of new equipment and techniques.
- Successfully participate in the annual competency assessment program.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required.
- Data Entry Skills preferred.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.
- Must be able to stand for long periods and alternate between sitting, standing, walking, and lifting throughout the shift.
Schedule
Second shift: Monday–Friday, ranging from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM or 5:00 PM to 1:30 AM; every other weekend rotation ranging from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM or 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Includes holiday rotation.
Pay
$17.91 per hour.
