Laboratory Assistant

About the role

As a Lab Assistant, you will play a crucial role in solving diagnostic mysteries, bringing us one step closer to effectively treating patient illnesses and injuries. Every day you will utilize your expertise and our advanced technology to precisely collect, prepare, and process a diverse range of patient specimens (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) for various diagnostic tests. To be successful in this role, you will possess a foundational understanding of laboratory procedures, demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, and maintain an eager commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Practice positive patient identification at all times, in all job functions.
• Practice HumanKindness and courtesy with all patient and co‑worker interactions.
• Establish and maintain good communication within the department and with other hospital departments.
• Take responsibility for the department workflow, assisting all team members to maintain workflow and efficiency.
• Create an atmosphere that fosters teamwork and collaboration.
• Process specimens into the lab, organized for department distribution.

Requirements

Required

• High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire (or High School GED General Studies, upon hire).
• Basic Life Support (through AHA) – CPR, to be obtained within 90 days.
• Medical Assistant – Phlebotomist (Washington), to be obtained within 6 months.

Preferred

• Certificate – Other Lab Assistant Program.
• Six months experience in an acute care facility, upon hire.
• Certificate – Other Phlebotomy program, upon hire.

Pay Range

$24.02 – $37.65 per hour
