Laboratory Animal Technician I

Responsibilities

• Cares for animals including feeding and cleaning responsibilities
• Follows protocol to ensure the health and welfare of the animals in care
• Inoculation and administration of doses to animals
• Collection of tissues and biological samples from laboratory animals
• Maintains responsibility for sanitation of the animal buildings, cages and support areas
• Desire to work with and care for animals on a daily basis
• Continuous effort toward contributing to a clean and safe working environment
• Able to complete paperwork as needed
• Must be available to work weekends/ holidays on a rotating basis
• Willingness to work overtime when needed
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Frequently bend, reach, push, pull squat and lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
• Desire to work with and care for animals on a daily basis
• Continuous effort toward contributing to a clean and safe working environment
• Able to perform repetitive tasks efficiently
• Able to follow sterile entry procedures and maintain neat, clean and safe conditions.
• Able to follow detailed procedures

Qualifications

This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person’s relevant experience and/or education level.
