Labor & Employment Associate Attorney (Part-Time)
Lewis Brisbois, a full-service AmLaw 100 firm, is seeking a part-time attorney to join its Labor & Employment Practice in the Akron, OH office.
About the role
The ideal candidate will have at least one to seven years of experience in employment law matters, primarily handling issues on behalf of private and carrier clients, with potential for some commercial litigation. Prior employment litigation experience (preferably on the management side) is required, and employment counseling or in-house employment law experience is preferred. This role involves extensive contact with clients, governmental agencies, and opposing counsel, offering meaningful work in a flexible atmosphere.
While part-time is preferred, full-time may be considered. The position is ideal for an experienced lawyer who is proactive, passionate about assuming a high-level role, and capable of managing files and deadlines independently.
Responsibilities
- Draft and respond to discovery and initial pleadings
- Draft and argue motions
- Take and defend depositions
- Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Provide sound counsel in employment litigation, counseling, and training
Requirements
- Admitted to practice in Ohio
- 1–7 years of experience in employment law (management-side preferred)
- Strong writing and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Substantive litigation experience (employment law preferred, but other litigation experience considered)
- Demonstrated interest in labor and employment law
