Labor & Delivery Physician Assistant/Surgical Assistant

Location: Nashville, TN – night shift only.

About the role

AP Health is a private practice of advanced practice providers delivering perioperative services to hospitals, surgeons, and surgery centers. We partner with facilities to provide service-line coverage with highly trained Advanced Practice Providers who first-assist in surgery. This is a surgical-only position with no clinic time and is not a travel, locum, placement, or per diem role.

Responsibilities

• Function as a Surgical First Assistant in the Operating Room.
• Position and drape the patient under the direction of the surgeon.
• Perform suturing and retracting of all tissue layers.
• Assist in the intra-operative care of the patient by performing technical duties as assigned.
• Perform comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physical examinations.
• Participate in rotating on-call responsibilities.

Requirements

• Minimum 2+ years of experience functioning as a surgical first assist in labor and delivery.
• Current State License or current national surgical assistant certification.
• Board certified by NCCPA.
• Active BLS and ACLS.
