Lab Training Specialist

About the role

The Senior Specialist, Lab Trainer supports the smooth operation and regulatory compliance of QPS' Department of Translational Medicine (TLM) through training and oversight of laboratory staff.

Responsibilities

• Support staff in developing and maintaining technical laboratory skills and soft skills.
• Onboard and train new hires on technical laboratory aspects, such as ligand binding assays.
• Coordinate with leadership on issues impacting laboratory services.
• Mentor and guide lab staff in maintaining clean, operational, and presentable laboratories.
• Provide input on future needs, including renovations and infrastructure improvements.
• Ensure laboratory equipment performance through operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Maintain laboratory safety by conducting regular safety checks.
• Manage laboratory inventory, placing and expediting orders for supplies.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, addressing issues promptly and providing updates.

Essential Functions

• Real-time staff stewardship: Orient, onboard, and train new staff; organize and administer training in compliance with corporate SOPs; coordinate with leadership on issues impacting laboratory services.
• Real-time laboratory stewardship: Maintain laboratory cleanliness, operational status, and appearance; interact with support teams for maintenance and qualification issues; provide input on future needs.
• Communication: Respond to communications in real-time; update superiors and stakeholders regarding timelines, assay performance, data, or reports; assist in communicating issues to stakeholders.

Requirements

• Education/Experience: University/College Degree in relevant scientific discipline, or demonstrated experience in a regulated industry laboratory.
