About the role
The Senior Specialist, Lab Trainer supports the smooth operation and regulatory compliance of QPS' Department of Translational Medicine (TLM) through training and oversight of laboratory staff.
Responsibilities
- Support staff in developing and maintaining technical laboratory skills and soft skills.
- Onboard and train new hires on technical laboratory aspects, such as ligand binding assays.
- Coordinate with leadership on issues impacting laboratory services.
- Mentor and guide lab staff in maintaining clean, operational, and presentable laboratories.
- Provide input on future needs, including renovations and infrastructure improvements.
- Ensure laboratory equipment performance through operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Maintain laboratory safety by conducting regular safety checks.
- Manage laboratory inventory, placing and expediting orders for supplies.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, addressing issues promptly and providing updates.
Essential Functions
- Real-time staff stewardship: Orient, onboard, and train new staff; organize and administer training in compliance with corporate SOPs; coordinate with leadership on issues impacting laboratory services.
- Real-time laboratory stewardship: Maintain laboratory cleanliness, operational status, and appearance; interact with support teams for maintenance and qualification issues; provide input on future needs.
- Communication: Respond to communications in real-time; update superiors and stakeholders regarding timelines, assay performance, data, or reports; assist in communicating issues to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Education/Experience: University/College Degree in relevant scientific discipline, or demonstrated experience in a regulated industry laboratory.
