About the role

The Lab Technologist II supports specimen processing and testing, working with department management and quality team members to ensure compliance and maintain standards.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Operate high complexity testing.
  • Participate in quality assurance plan, document quality control and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Work as part of a team to produce repeatable quality results.
  • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory space.
  • Participate in proficiency testing.
  • Participate in continuing education.
  • Follow training and competency assessment programs.
  • Document and troubleshoot issues affecting test performance.
  • Resolve problems or implement projects within the department.
  • Train on technical processes within the group.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in medical technology or a related field.
  • 6 months of clinical lab experience or equivalent.
  • California CLS trainee license or CLS/CGMBS license.
  • Familiarity with molecular biology techniques and proficiency in calculations.
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Office tools), and strong communication and documentation skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting requirements: medium work or exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds consistently.
  • Stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, reaching, and repetitive motion.
  • Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
  • Hazards and atmospheric conditions: exposure to fumes, dust, extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid, noise, vibration, mists or gases, mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, and radiant energy hazards.
  • OSHA Category I: exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue.
