Lab Technician V

Location: Centerville, TN 37033
Duration: 6+ months contract with the possibility of extension or permanent placement
Pay rate: $30/hour

Schedule

• Any 3 days per week
• 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (exact shifts to be discussed in the interview)

About the Role

The main function of a lab technician is to perform routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. A typical lab technician may work under the supervision of a medical technologist.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the set-up, adjustment, maintenance, and cleaning of medical laboratory equipment
• Review and approve the results of tests and experiments to ensure conformity to specifications, using special mechanical and electrical devices
• Review the record of test data for accuracy
• Review pathology results when abnormal cells are found
• Conduct chemical analyses of body fluids, such as blood and urine, using a microscope or automatic analyzer to detect abnormalities or diseases, and enter findings into a computer
• Conduct blood tests for transfusion purposes and perform blood counts
• Collect blood or tissue samples from patients, observing principles of asepsis to obtain blood samples

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• Associate's degree in medical technology or vocational training preferred
• 10+ years of experience
