Lab Technician

About the Role

Select Chemistry’s Lab Technician will test and qualify raw materials and products in support of our company’s mission to manufacture quality products for our customers. The Lab Technician will conduct routine chemical analyses in a laboratory environment, producing accurate and repeatable results and documentation to support manufacturing and the quality control process. This position requires an individual capable of working independently to meet daily work requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform analyses on batches of produced materials following written SOP.
• Use specialized laboratory equipment such as Viscometer, GC, UV/Vis Spec, etc.
• Perform analyses in a timely and accurate manner.
• Accurately record and report the results of all tests performed.
• Maintain a clean and orderly working environment.
• Calibrate and maintain testing equipment.
• Perform special projects as assigned.
• Occasional travel may be required but will not be routine.

Requirements

• 8 hours of college chemistry or associate degree in Science preferred.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or related science.
• 2 years previous work experience in a laboratory.
• Previous experience in a quality control laboratory or an oil and gas industry laboratory.
• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures used in a laboratory.
• Flexibility to work 8 or 12-hour shifts, including day or night shifts.
• Flexibility to work overtime, weekends on a rotating schedule, and some holidays.
• Detail-oriented with good math and computer skills.
• Able to use Microsoft Office Products: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Ability to cooperate and collaborate effectively with other employees.
• Good organizational skills and effective written and oral communication skills.
• Professional attitude and timeliness.

Schedule

This facility operates 24/7. The position may require the technician to change between day or night shifts to support 24-hour operations. Schedule includes:

• Monday – Sunday, with overtime as required.
• Rotating weekends and some holidays.

Physical Demands and Exposures

• Works inside a climate-controlled environment.
• Involves sitting at a desk for extended periods of time.
• Requires a high degree of concentration in a busy area.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
