Schedule

Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM

Responsibilities

  • Accession specimens in a timely and accurate manner
  • Prepare slides for transport with courier
  • File and pull slides as requested
  • Perform gross dissection/examination for select uncomplicated or wholly submitted or bisected skin specimens
  • Perform microtomy on various tissue types, including very small biopsies
  • Prepare and stain histology specimens accurately and timely under both routine and STAT (frozen section, Mohs surgery) conditions
  • Ensure safe and non-traumatic specimen handling with critical concern for specimen quality
  • Control contaminated or potentially dangerous specimens in accordance with accreditation agency requirements
  • Prepare slides with concern for specimen quality given the procedures to be used for test or examination
  • Ensure equipment is operated according to manufacturer’s instructions, maintained properly, and supplies are adequate
  • Maintain accurate records for quality control, quality assurance, and patient data
  • Assist with data entry of patient demographics into EMR/Billing Systems
  • Process pathology billing
  • Sort incoming deliveries and mail, routing to the appropriate contact
  • Maintain laboratory logs
  • Clean laboratory to limit cross-contamination
  • Other duties as deemed necessary

We have a state-of-the-art in-house histopathology lab. This is a great opportunity for the ideal candidate to gain experience and grow their career with our company. The Lab Technician plays a key role in training and acclimating new staff to the team and helps create the culture of Dermatology Partners by always being polite, friendly, and helpful to patients and team members. The role requires a professional appearance and manner. There are no supervisory responsibilities unless assigned by the appropriate Manager. The Lab Technician reports to the Lab Manager.
