Lab Tech Assistant — Histology Department — St. Mary's Hospital — PRN
About the role

Responsibilities
- Prepares specimens for analysis by registering and accessioning orders, verifying specimen acceptability, and performing pre-analytical and analytical laboratory procedures.
- Collects and transports blood specimens from patients following established venipuncture procedures to ensure specimen integrity.
- Supports technologists by assisting with instrument loading, reagent making, and specimen processing.
- Recognizes and reports instrument and equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
- Maintains departmental inventory, stocks supplies, and performs related clerical duties.
- Provides excellent customer service by greeting patients and the community respectfully.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Degree or GED (required)
- Associates in Biology or Chemistry (preferred)
- Laboratory experience preferred, but not required
- Keyboarding or data experience preferred, but not required

- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
- Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner
