About the Role

The Laboratory Technician serves as the primary chemist for the Plating Chem-Lab. This position focuses on the chemical maintenance of cleaning, activation, and plating tanks through chemical analysis and additions. Additionally, the role provides support to other departments such as EHS and production for non-planned activities.

Responsibilities

• Executes chemical titrations on plating, activation, and cleaning baths based on the defined analysis schedule.
• Performs pH measurements on plating, activation, and cleaning baths as per the defined schedule.
• Conducts specific gravity measurements on plating baths as required.
• Performs concentration measurements using ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma).
• Executes Hull cell testing as required per the defined schedule.
• Ensures safe practices in collaboration with the safety department.
• Provides support with chemical inventory management.
• Performs chemical process maintenance activities such as carbon treatment and dummy plating.
• Makes chemical additions to maintain plating, activation, and cleaning tanks within predefined working parameters.
• Supports the 5S culture (deployment and maintenance).
• Communicates improvement opportunities and provides feedback for process enhancements.
• Participates in Kaizen events as required.
• Abides by state, federal, and OSHA regulations.

Requirements

• Knowledge and adherence to good safety guidelines and practices to ensure accident/incident-free work execution.
• Understanding and execution of chemical analysis such as titrations.
• Basic knowledge of hazardous waste and hazardous materials management.
• Basic knowledge of chemical lab instrumentation and labware.
• Basic theory and practical knowledge of daily lab operations.
• Follows procedures as required and provides feedback for process improvement.
