About the Role
The Histology Lab Supervisor is responsible for oversight and management of daily activities in the histology section of the Oklahoma Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (OADDL). This position will assist the histology lab manager in the supervision, training, and proficiency of Senior Lab Technicians and student workers. The Lab Supervisor will work closely with the histology lab manager to:
- Gross complex tissue specimens for histological evaluation (including limbs, mandibles, spleens, digits, etc.)
- Process slides and oversee daily slide production
- Ensure quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA)
- Maintain lab certification documents
- Assist in training and completing research cases
Requirements
- Vocational/Technical degree (must be conferred on or before agreed-upon start date) plus two years of lab experience OR High School/GED and four years of experience
- Rabies immunization (required and will be provided)
Skills
- Working knowledge and proficiency in histology techniques: grossing, embedding, sectioning, and staining
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency in general use of laboratory equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field
- 3–5 years of lab experience in a diagnostic or research laboratory setting
Pay
$18.75 – $23.50 hourly
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with occasional evenings and weekends
