About the Role

Echo Neurotechnologies is developing novel Brain Computer Interface (BCI) products for people living with disabilities to restore autonomy and improve quality of life. We are seeking an experienced Lab Manager to serve as the backbone of our hardware development environment as well as our GLP pathology laboratory. You will wear many hats, including helping set up lab spaces, navigating EHS and GLP compliance, and working across prototyping, quality, and scientific teams. This is a high-impact role perfect for someone who thrives on organization, safety, and the "hands-on" nature of hardware engineering and laboratory science.

Responsibilities

  • Facilities and Lab Operations
    • Lead the design and setup of new lab spaces; coordinate with contractors for electrical, HVAC, and plumbing requirements specific to medical device testing.
    • Serve as the Laboratory Manager for a variety of medical device studies and associated products in accordance with GLP for Nonclinical Laboratory Studies (Title 21, Part 58).
    • Act as the primary liaison with local authorities to secure necessary building, environmental, and operational permits.
    • Oversee general laboratory facility needs.
    • Keep stockrooms, cabinets, and common equipment areas clearly labeled, clean, and organized.
    • Maintain available laboratory supplies and consumables.
  • Equipment and Inventory Management
    • Coordinate the installation, maintenance, and repair of specialized laboratory equipment.
    • Maintain calibration and validation schedules to ensure all R&D, manufacturing, and GLP equipment meets quality and regulatory standards.
  • Protocols & Safety
    • Develop, coordinate training of, adhere to, and enforce laboratory protocols and safety procedures, including chemical hygiene plans, hazardous waste disposal, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements to prevent contamination and ensure the accuracy of test results.
    • Work with Office Manager to coordinate trainings, protocols, and procedures for office areas to adhere with local regulations.
    • Work closely with the Testing Facility Manager (TFM) to maintain facility compliance and mitigate issues immediately.
  • Engineering Support
    • Maintain organized records of equipment manuals, safety data sheets (SDS), and maintenance logs.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree (A.A./A.S.) or equivalent in a scientifically related discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of Lab Management or Facilities Management, preferably within the medical device, biotechnology, or related industry.
  • General awareness of GLP policies and regulatory requirements (FDA, USDA).
  • Inclination towards hands-on engineering activities.
  • Broad understanding of laboratory safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ability to read floor plans/blueprints and a basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience working within a quality system.
  • Excellent written, reporting, and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on attention to detail.

Other Qualifications

  • Experience with California FDB.
  • Strong collaboration mindset.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work with persons of diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office and Google Suite tools and applications.
  • Must be highly motivated to deliver results under tight deadlines.
  • Able to lift 10-25 pounds.

Pay

$110,000 - $160,000 USD
