About the role
The Lab Maintenance Engineer shall be responsible for supporting and monitoring maintenance and facilities projects to ensure safe and efficient operation of the lab equipment. The duties shall include the oversight of cooling, heating and prototype lab area, the maintenance and continuous improvement of testing equipment required for the daily production of test data. Support the proper functioning and development of Engineering Lab by calibrating testing instrumentation on schedule, ensuring instruments, gauges and testing devices are calibrated correctly and give accurate readings at all times.
Responsibilities
- Oversight of cooling, heating and prototype lab area
- Maintenance and continuous improvement of testing equipment
- Calibration and qualification of testing instrumentation
- Supporting the proper functioning of Engineering Lab
- Providing engineering support to maintenance technicians
- Maintaining accurate calibration records
- Ensuring compliance with calibration procedures
- Developing and maintaining test room P&ID schematics
- Supporting root cause investigation if unplanned maintenance events occur
- Maintaining safety as the highest priority
- Undertaking other projects assigned by the management
Requirements
- Knowledgeable in the fields of Thermodynamics, Fluid Dynamics, and Mass Transfer
- Basic LabVIEW HMI programming skills
- Exposure to programming Allen Bradley PLC’s, VFD
- Practical understanding of industrial refrigeration systems
- Practical understanding of single phase and three phase Electrical systems
- Ability to understand traceability, substitution of standards, test accuracy and uncertainty ratios as part of ISO 17025 requirements
- General understanding of pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical instrumentation
- Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical schematics
- Familiarity in hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical components, and construction
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Able to manage tasks with minimal direction
- Fair knowledge of electrical practices and safety codes
- Effective communication skills – verbal and written
- Able to work with a diverse range of people and in a team setting
- High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical skills
- Effective organizational and time management skills including prioritization skills
- Ability to apply good judgement, strong work ethics and integrity on the job
Qualifications
- Experience 0-3 years’ experience including co-ops, internships, and/or research projects that include pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical instrumentation
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an accredited institution required
