As an IDEXX Laboratory Lead, you will perform laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets. Responsibilities
- Oversee the work of Medical Lab Technicians and/or Sample Management Technicians (though they will not be your direct reports).
- Coach and lead the work of others, helping the team reach business goals.
- Coordinate the team’s workflow.
- Problem-solve, from troubleshooting diagnostic analyzers to resolving workflow challenges and turnaround time issues.
- Use automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases in support of veterinarian treatment.
- Perform diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal, or pet biopsy samples received in large volumes daily.
- Set up and run lab tests, then read and release results according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Specialize in Parasitology.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience; a 2-, 3-, or 4-year degree in a science-related field is preferred.
- Experience using a microscope to review slides and identify sample elements.
- Ideally 3-5+ years of experience working in a laboratory; training can be provided. Experience setting up, running, reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes and/or clinical diagnostic analyzers) is preferred.
- Attention to detail, organized, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Team-oriented worker.
- Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT) experience is preferred.
- Ability to meet physical requirements of the role, including standing and sitting for extended periods, phone and computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50 lbs, and specific vision abilities (close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus).
- Potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.

Schedule
40 hours per week. The schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, with an every-other Monday rotation. When working a Monday, you will have a day off during the week to ensure you work only 5 days per week. Flexibility to stay longer as needed is a plus.
