About the role

The Lab Assistant Phlebotomist at NCH Laboratory North Naples is responsible for receiving and processing all incoming specimens, ensuring their integrity, and delivering them to appropriate areas. This position requires a strong understanding of specimen handling, safety, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, medical staff, and other hospital personnel.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood samples using proper techniques and equipment
• Evaluates specimen integrity and advises on specimen rejection
• Answers phone calls and provides accurate information about specimen collection and test requirements
• Communicates with medical staff and nurses to resolve inquiries and special requests
• Processes and dispatches phlebotomy requests efficiently
• Investigates incidents and follows up on incomplete orders
• Manages specimen tracking and prepares specimens for shipping
• Applies knowledge of culture media and inoculation techniques

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience in phlebotomy or clinical lab experience preferred
• Excellent customer service skills
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to multitask and work independently

• Intermediate computer knowledge: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows
