Lab Associate III - Days
Overview
Progress West Hospital has a full-time Lab Associate III opportunity for an experienced phlebotomist and lab processor to work in an outpatient setting. This role involves sending out tests, pathology, and FNA collections. There is a great opportunity for growth in a laboratory setting.
Schedule
3 12-hour shifts (6:00am - 6:30pm) with rotating weekends and holidays.

Opened in 2007, Progress West Hospital is BJC HealthCare’s newest hospital in St. Charles County, featuring modern private rooms. It offers 24-hour emergency services and has partnered with St. Louis Children’s Hospital to provide world-class pediatric emergency care. Progress West Hospital also provides surgical services, endoscopy services, a cardiac catheterization lab, medical/surgical inpatient services, diagnostic imaging, lab services, and the Advanced Wound Center, a specialty wound treatment facility with state-of-the-art equipment. Progress West Hospital recently completed an expansion of its Childbirth Center to include enhanced services for at-risk mothers and babies, with a newborn ICU that provides care for babies born as early as 32 weeks. Progress West Hospital is a Certified Level II Stroke Center. The hospital’s medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, pediatrics, and orthopedics. Laboratory Services provide on-site services 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Point of Care Testing provides immediate diagnostics for emergency situations and On-site patient testing services include: Chemistry -- Hematology, Blood Bank -- Coagulation, Urinalysis, Clinical Microscopy Mobile Care Units used for bedside, in-patient blood work, patient identification, and accurate specimen labeling. Outpatient lab draw services 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic laboratory duties as assigned.
- Performs waived and moderate complex testing with appropriate training and competency, sweat chloride collections, EKGs, etc.
- Under supervision, reports test results as appropriate.
- Sorts and processes routine and specific high-level specimens received by the lab— including multistep technical processing (i.e., Histology, Microbiology, Cytology, etc.).
- Ensures correct processing and packaging for esoteric send-out tests.
- Captures and processes specimens from patients in a timely manner.
- Coordinates a simultaneous series of tasks accurately, including STAT orders and fluctuation in workload, prioritizing work to complete within scheduled hours and established turnaround times.
- Inventory management, equipment cleaning, maintenance, loading, etc.
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience: 2-5 years supervisor experience
- Licenses & Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Phlebotomy

- Education: Associate's Degree
