Responsibilities
- Preparing and maintaining science laboratory materials for lab classes, including replenishing materials between laboratory classes, making solutions, reagents, and media.
- Aiding in maintaining the laboratories in a neat and orderly manner at all times, and in maintaining the science stock/prep rooms at the Wye Mills campus and Cambridge Center.
- Traveling to Cambridge, perhaps weekly, for laboratory preparation.
- Maintaining and updating inventories, including models, charts, posters, maps, equipment, mineral and specimen collections, slides, and reference texts.
- Orienting new science adjunct instructors and communicating with adjuncts.
- Complying with State and Federal Safety Regulations, including testing and recordkeeping for required safety equipment and procedures, and proper disposal of biohazards and carcinogens.
- Independently setting up labs (skills and simulation) with required equipment and supplies for educational sessions (including moulage).
- Operating complex simulation equipment, Learning Space, and other related equipment.
- Serving as the simulation operator during healthcare simulation sessions.
- Collaborating with faculty to improve simulation experiences through technological recommendations and improvements.
- Troubleshooting technical issues, maintaining, and repairing simulation equipment within training and warranty parameters.
- Conducting preventative maintenance and software upgrades of simulation equipment within training and warranty parameters.
- Cleaning lab spaces, task trainers, and simulators once lab sessions are concluded.
- Providing input to the budget, scheduling, procurement, and inventories for equipment and supplies.
- Interacting with standardized patients of various ages.
- Providing tours of the simulation center to internal and external groups.
Requirements
- Full-time position involving a flexible 35-hour work week, with some night and/or weekend shifts required.
- Responsible for overseeing, managing, and operating healthcare simulators and AV equipment.
- Exposure to inside lab/office conditions, occasional exposure to various chemicals, odors, regulated carcinogens, and simulated healthcare equipment.
- Ability to lift up to approximately 50lb. occasionally, hear, grasp, push, pull, lift, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, climb stairs, walk, and perform other physical activities as described.
