Lab Assistant PRN

About the Role

Provides phlebotomy expertise, decision making, and problem solving skills based on in-depth knowledge of phlebotomy procedures. Performs the collection, receipt in computer, processing, and delivery of patient specimens for tests performed by the laboratory.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an approved phlebotomy training program or one year of proven experience in Hospital, Reference, or Physician Office Lab required.

Skills

• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Proficiency in utilization of personal computer skills.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Frequent prolonged standing/walking.
• Occasional lifting of supplies/equipment up to 25 lbs.
• Continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person.
• Continuous manual dexterity and mobility; frequent reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching.
• Continuous ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less, judge distance and space relationships, bring objects into focus, and distinguish and identify different colors.
• Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
• Minimal noise levels; much exposure to computer work.
• Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock.
• Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks.
• Some exposure to hazardous chemicals; occasional exposure to radiation.
• Travel between facilities as required.
