Lab Assistant - Phlebotomist — Mercy Health Mobile Outreach Lab
About the role
Mercy Health is a faith-based and patient-focused organization dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of all people through exceptional patient care. The Phlebotomist position is within the Laboratory Department and involves collecting blood samples, preparing specimens for testing, and performing clerical duties.
Responsibilities
- Provides excellent customer service by greeting patients and the community respectfully.
- Collects all specimens according to established procedures from patients and ensures proper processing.
- Identifies patients accurately and matches their identity with the correct service for patient safety.
- Performs data entry and processing of specimens, including labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as requested by test orders.
- Completes departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stocking supplies, and answering phones.
- Trains and assists other staff members as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Degree or GED.
- Phlebotomist Certification preferred but not required.
- One-year phlebotomy experience preferred but not required.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner.
