About the role

The role of Lab Assistant at MercyOne Dubuque involves supporting various laboratory departments by assisting technical staff in specimen collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of laboratory tests.

Responsibilities

• Supports accurate and efficient specimen collection and management.
• Ensures proper specimen collection according to laboratory policy.
• Accurately registers and logs specimens in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Resolves problematic patient specimens and test orders collaboratively.
• Operates laboratory information systems for accurate data entry and workflow management.
• Contributes to general laboratory operations by restocking supplies, participating in peer teaching, and engaging in department or hospital committees and projects.

Requirements

• Laboratory experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Strong computer skills with quick learning ability.
• Comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
• Personal presence characterized by honesty, integrity, and caring, inspiring and motivating others.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
