About the role
We are currently seeking a Phlebotomist / Lab Assistant to join our team. Under general supervision, this role involves collecting laboratory specimens on clinic patients of all ages. The lab assistant is responsible for performing venipunctures and finger sticks, processing medical laboratory tests, and documenting results for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This role supports multiple MCC sites.
Responsibilities
- Collect specimens according to established procedures
- Perform venipunctures and finger sticks
- Research and confirm client information and electronic orders
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analyses, reporting, and record maintenance
- Identify and report problems affecting test performance or reporting
- Document critical lab results and procedures
- Understand and adhere to quality control policies per CLIA regulations
- Order and maintain adequate laboratory supplies
- Communicate with and assist patients professionally and courteously
- Support clinical team members as needed
Requirements
- Phlebotomy Certification
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Keyboard/data entry capability
- Completion of Medical Assistant Program or Phlebotomy Program
- One year of phlebotomy experience preferred
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Agile and adaptable to new developments or situations

Work Environment
- Primary environment is clinical setting

Travel Requirements
Must have the ability to travel between MCC sites in the St. Paul/Minneapolis metro area if needed. This role supports operations across all locations.
