Schedule & Hours

  • Early morning shift: start between 4:30 AM – 5:30 AM
  • 2–4 days per week
  • No weekends or holidays required
  • Home base: IU Health Bloomington Hospital
  • Outreach role – travel required between multiple sites
  • Daily locations may vary

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform phlebotomy (primary focus)
  • Collect patient samples at assigned outreach locations
  • Transport samples back to Bloomington Hospital
  • Complete sample accessioning and billing

Typical Day

  • Start at Bloomington Hospital to gather supplies
  • Travel to assigned outreach location
  • Perform patient collections
  • Return to base for sample processing and documentation

  • Team of 7 lab assistants across 3 sites

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Completion of a phlebotomy training program with experience in laboratory or coursework in biological, chemical or related science preferred
  • May require a valid Indiana Operator’s license and a good driving history for the last three years
  • May require an understanding of the traffic laws in the State of Indiana
  • Working knowledge of computers
  • Telephone skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member
  • Able to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time
