Lab Assistant Full Time 4:30am-1:00pm

To learn more about Baptist Health, visit us at https://www.baptistfirst.org. This Lab Assistant position is based at Prattville Baptist Hospital, full‑time, first shift (4:30 am – 1:00 pm).

Responsibilities

• Provides phlebotomy expertise, decision making, and problem solving skills based on in-depth knowledge of phlebotomy procedures.
• Performs the collection, receipt in computer, processing, and delivery of patient specimens for tests performed by the laboratory.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an approved phlebotomy training program or one year of proven experience in Hospital, Reference, or Physician Office Lab required.

Skills

• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Proficiency in utilization of personal computer skills.

Requirements

• Position requires frequent prolonged standing/walking.
• Requires occasional lifting of supplies/equipment up to 25 lbs.
• Continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person.
• Continuously exhibiting manual dexterity and mobility; frequently reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching.
• Continuous ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less, to judge distance and space relationships; to bring objects into focus; and to distinguish and identify different colors.
• Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
• Minimal noise levels.
• Much exposure to computer work.
• Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock.
• Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks.
• Some exposure to hazardous chemicals.
• Occasional exposure to radiation.
• Travel between facilities as required.
